I am delighted to have been appointed as the vice chair of SAHCA. I am a great believer in its aims and values. Last year on behalf of SAHCA I enjoyed being involved in a research project undertaken by the NSPCC regarding the experience of young people in the criminal justice system, and how improvements could be made. My main input was to put forward my experience of the good practice in the family justice system and the lessons that could be learned from that system. I also enjoyed participating in various working groups including with the MOJ and HMCS, as well as sharing my experiences as a children panel solicitor advocate (with higher audience rights civil) with students at the College of Law. I am looking forward to another busy year participating in groups and advancing the best interests of all our SAHCA members, in particular in the area of children’s law.
