Deaf witnesses and defendants: Common issues, culture clash and case law

The Advocate’s Gateway gives free access to practical, evidence-based guidance on vulnerable witnesses and defendants.

The Advocate’s Gateway is hosted by the Advocacy Training Council and is managed by the ATC’s Vulnerable Witness Management Committee. A number of Toolkits for preparing to examine vulnerable witnesses have been developed and are available as a free resource.

Dr Sue O'Rourke is a chartered clinical psychologist, a sign language interpreter and the lead author of the Advocacy Training Council Toolkit, Planning to question someone who is deaf (forthcoming). Dr O'Rourke is one of the  speakers at a seminar to be held at Garden Court Chambers on 12 June 2014 between 18:30 and 20:30 on 'Deaf witnesses and defendants: Common issues, culture clash and case law'.

The cost is £25 for 1.5 CPD points.
