After much discussion and with regret the committee has come to the conclusion that we are unable to go ahead with this year’s Conference which was to have been held on Saturday 10th October 2020. The Conference is an important event for the association, allowing us to meet fellow members, share ideas and views and to develop our skills. However, given the current situation and uncertainty in the months ahead it was felt that we must put our members’ safety ahead of all other considerations. Many SAHCA members are key workers and are working extremely hard at the moment to keep our justice system moving and it was felt that a physical event could jeopardise this. As a not-for-profit small association, funded by membership, Conference is a big financial commitment. We are making the decision now to mitigate any financial loss to the association and before people have begun to make travel arrangements or other commitments.
For those members who have already purchased tickets for Conference, these will be refunded in the next 7-10 days.
As required, we will be holding the AGM remotely in the evening of 15th October 2020. As we are very keen to connect with members we will be holding virtual drop-in sessions before and after the AGM which will be free of charge and a chance to ask committee members questions and raise issues. More details will follow soon.
